Named for Joseph Hormisdas Gariepy, an early pioneer merchant, the neighbourhood of Gariepy began in the 1970s. Over half of the residences in this city of Edmonton neighbourhood were constructed during the 1970s and the remainder were built in the 1980s. The bulk of the homes in this tree-lined neighbourhood are single-family homes - making this the perfect area to move to.

 

With an ideal location in the west end of the city of Edmonton, living in Gariepy gives you quick and easy access to the West Edmonton Mall via both 170 Street and 178 Street. There is one school in the neighbourhood, Centennial School, is operated by the Edmonton Public School system. 

 

One of the outstanding features of this community-oriented and quiet neighbourhood is Gariepy Park. With features such as the Gariepy Treestand that offers walking trails and the chance to relax with nature. In the winter Gariepy Park is a popular destination for outdoor activities including skating on the natural ice rink that forms. 

 

With some homes overlooking the North Saskatchewan River, you truly get the feeling of "being away from it all" while still living in the city. Gariepy is bordered by 178 Street, Callingwood Road, 170 Street and the North Saskatchewan River. Don't forget to visit the nearby neighbourhoods of Callingwood South, Dechene and Oleskiw.
