A well-known and established neighbourhood, Parkview is a popular choice for all types of home owners. This city of Edmonton neighbourhood is often referred to with two names: Valleyview and Parkview. This informal split within the community is marked with the community east of 142 Street known as Valleyview and that west of 142 Street known as Parkview.
The bulk of the construction in this neighbourhood occurred between 1946 and 1960 with all of the major residential construction being completed by 1970. Parkview features a diverse range of homes from those in the upper-range of prices to others in the middle of the price range - really there is a home for everyone here!
With two schools in the neighbourhood: Parkview School and St. Rose Junior High School, families and children will find it easy to settle in. As well the Edmonton Valley Zoo is conveniently located in the river valley on the eastern edge of the city. Buena Vista Road provides access to this petting zoo and to Laurier Park and Buena Vista Park. All excellent spots in the neighbourhood to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy nature and being outside.
Parkview is bordered by the McKenzie Ravine, the North Saskatchewan River Valley, 149 Street, 87 Avenue and Buena Vista Road. With a small strip mall located in the center of the neighbourhood, Parkview residents have quick and easy access to the Valleyview Shopping Centre. As well Whitemud Drive is simple to access via 149 Street and makes it easy for you to access south side destinations including: Old Strathcona, Whyte Avenue, Fort Edmonton Park and the University of Alberta. There is also easy access to the West Edmonton Mall and the downtown core of the city of Edmonton.
When visiting Parkview, be sure to visit the nearby neighbourhoods of Jasper Park, Sherwood, Lynnwood, Laurier Heights and Crestwood.
