West Edmonton Real Estate
Edmonton’s west-end neighborhoods include some of the most prime Edmonton real estate. This region encompasses:
124 Street on the east
City limits on the west
111 Avenue on the north
North Saskatchewan River on the south
Edmonton homes in the west-end range from very high-end luxury houses in prestigious neighbourhoods to more affordable homes that offer style and preferred location. A search of Edmonton’s real estate listings will reveal ravine communities dating back to the fifties and sixties. Some of the older homes found here once belonged to the Town of Jasper Place—an area annexed by the city in 1964. These renewed homes have often been beautifully restored and modernized.
The world famous West Edmonton Mall is the west-end’s most major landmark. It features more than 800 stores and services and at least 110 eating establishments. The mall is the center of entertainment with three multiplex cinemas, the world’s largest indoor amusement park and waterslide, a wave pool, indoor mini golf, and much more. Meadowlark Mall offers pleasant shopping opportunities on a smaller scale.
Catholic and public schools, libraries, arenas, playgrounds, community leagues, and other facilities abound. Sir Wilfred Laurier Park on the north bank of the river is a special gem. Its 83 hectares (205 acres) includes the Valley Zoo.
Edmonton homes for sale in this part of the city are well placed for residents wanting easy access to bus service, shopping, entertainment, and recreation. And if you want to head west to enjoy Alberta’s Rocky Mountains, you couldn’t find a better location to live.
