With a mix of residential and commercial development, Glenwood is a large and booming neighbourhood. As part of the Jasper Place amalgamation in 1964, Glenwood is one of Edmonton's more established and well-serviced neighbourhoods.
The bulk of the homes in this family-friendly neighbourhood were built between 1946 and 1980. The majority of these homes are single-family homes with a mix of apartments, duplexes and row houses. With such family-oriented housing, it is fitting that there are six schools in Glenwood.
The Edmonton Public School System has two schools in the neighbourhood: Glendale Elementary School and Westlawn Junior High School. Both Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School and St. Thomas More Junior High School are operated by the Edmonton Catholic School System. In addition there are two independent schools in the Glenwood neighbourhood: Britannia A M I Montessori School and Crestwood Montessori School. For those interested in post-secondary education, the Centre for the Arts Campus of MacEwan College is located in the nearby neighbourhood of West Jasper Place.
Bordered by Stony Plain Road, 95 Avenue, 156 Street and 170 Street, Glenwood is well-serviced and easy to access. The Jasper Place terminal on the Edmonton Transit System's transportation line is located in Glenwood and makes it easy to get around the neighbourhood and city car-free.
When visiting Glenwood, be sure to take in the nearby neighbourhoods of Britannia Youngstown, Place LaRue, Meadowlark Park and West Jasper Place. Glenwood is an excellent location that offers something for every homeowner.
